At Original Workout, our clients are like family and they believe in what we do.

Our ideology is simple. It solely serves the client’s unique goals and expectations.  We believe in taking the most direct path to accomplishing your needs synergistically with your schedule and your life — complementing your schedule, not complicating it. We are not a membership gym. We are personal training. Either one on one, or in groups.  Trainees engage with their trainer in various forms of physical and psychological training to support sport performance or personal fitness objectives. At Original Workout, regardless of what program or class you choose, you will always have the guidance and accountability of a trainer with you from start to finish. We know that above all, you want results, and you want them as fast as possible. What we do works.

We are a true original. And we can honestly say when it comes to personal training in Western NC, we do it better than anyone. Founder and trainer Rob Goodwin brought the multi-trainer, one on one personal training experience to the Hickory area way back in early 90's. We are proud of our reputation of being the most respected personal training entity in the area. We currently have 7 trainers conducting over 300 workouts a week with nearly 200 unique clients and small groups. Our team has a combined 50+ years experience helping others achieve their best, and now we hope to add you to our family. 

Our gym design is minimal on purpose. We believe in what works. We don't need tons of fancy machines like the big box membership gyms. The most fit bodies are best built with barbells, dumbbells, kettle bells, and strict body-weight movements. This is a gym where business gets done. We offer challenging workouts born from intelligent design. We don't believe in competing in the gym with others to a one-size-fits-all workout or random exercises thrown at a whiteboard. We believe in serious training in the gym in order to compete outside of it. Whatever challenge you face in life. We can deliver it. No drama, no egos, and no BS. Our client retention rate is dramatically higher than the national average. Our clients are family, and believe in what we do. Personal Training & Small Group Training
 
Personal Training is our signature service. Owner and trainer Rob Goodwin teamed with a dynamic staff of trainers, instructors, and coaches, brings the finest in Personal Training to you in our unique private gym environment. Our trainers are with you every every workout, every set, every rep. All workouts are custom designed to fit your needs, goals, and current level of fitness. Our programming combines the best of the old school, with the newest advances in human movement. Simply put, your trainer will help you accomplish far more than you would on your own, and keep you motivated with new, refreshing workouts without allowing you to plateau or get bored. 

Accountability is paramount. In our busy, fast paced, multi-tasking existence it's easy to justify skipping workouts. By knowing you have a standing appointment with your trainer you will be held accountable and finally develop consistency in your fitness life and see results begin almost immediately. And the cool thing is, up to four people can share a session and split the investment! Our unique approach makes personal training available to anyone regardless of lifestyle or budget. We'd love to help you too!

We recommend beginning with your trainer 2 to 3 days per week, Thirty-minute sessions. Your trainer will then outline an appropriate cardiovascular program and nutritional recommendations to maximize your training experience outside the studio.
